Laura Linney is an American actress who is well-known for her performance of strong but vulnerable characters. Her father was an acclaimed writer, however she was raised as a single child by a single mom who was a nurse. In the summer, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for the theatre. Her first stage experience was initially at Brown University then at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career after her graduation, and then made her television debut the following year. Since then, she has performed in many films and TV and stage productions. Her achievements have been numerous over the course of her career such as the four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Though she was awarded numerous prizes through the years, performing was always her primary love.
